At International Sharing School – Taguspark, one of our core missions is to develop internationally minded students who understand the world beyond the classroom. Our Model United Nations (MUN) program is a powerful example of how authentic learning can inspire global citizenship, critical thinking, and confident communication.
A Growing Community of Young Diplomats
Model United Nations (MUN) has grown rapidly in recent years at ISS Taguspark, transforming from a small, enthusiastic group into a vibrant and committed student community of 96 students.
Each week during our Sharing Star program, students step into the shoes of diplomats, representing nations, navigating world crises, drafting resolutions, and learning to listen to perspectives drastically different from their own.
In a time when international cooperation can feel increasingly strained, teaching young people how to debate respectfully, compromise thoughtfully, and advocate passionately is more essential than ever.

Beyond Debate: Real-World Skills in Action
At ISS Taguspark, Model United Nations (MUN) is far more than a debating club. Students learn to research global issues, analyse political and economic systems, and apply real-world diplomatic processes. Whether tackling climate policy, cyber warfare, fast fashion, or nuclear de-escalation, delegates must explore the ethical, cultural, and humanitarian dimensions of each issue. This builds not just academic skills but a deeper empathy for the world and its challenges.
For many students, the first conference is a turning point. They enter nervous, unsure, and often intimidated by the formal procedures and public speaking. By the end, they are raising placards, negotiating amendments, and engaging with students from around the world. The confidence they gain is unmistakable, and many leave with a new sense of purpose.
Beyond Debate: Real-World Skills in Action
This year has brought exciting growth. Our delegation represented ISS at Park MUN, CAISL MUN, and St. Julian’s MUN, where students delivered powerful opening speeches, drafted thoughtful working papers, and earned recognition for diplomacy and leadership.

Beyond conferences, we have expanded in-school training, introduced crisis simulations, and supported new delegates as they discover their voices.
To reward these efforts, ISS Taguspark hosts students at overnight international conferences each year. This year, we’re pleased to be competing at the internationally famous MUN Rome in Italy!
For our younger students, Sharing Star workshops introduce debate structure, UN bodies, and public speaking in an accessible and fun way.
The goal is simple: by the time they reach upper secondary, they are confident, curious, and ready to lead.
Preparing Students for a Global Future
Model United Nations (MUN) teaches students to read deeply, write persuasively, and speak clearly under pressure. These are skills that follow them into university and beyond. But the most important skill may be perspective. Delegates quickly learn that there is no single “right answer” to most global issues. Instead, they must build solutions through cooperation, reason, and compromise. They discover that diplomacy is not about winning; it’s about moving the world forward.
With more conferences ahead and an expanding group of delegates, MUN at ISS Taguspark continues to grow. As our students speak, lead, and advocate on the world stage, they strengthen their own abilities as well as our school’s commitment to global engagement.
And for any student considering joining: you don’t need to be loud, political, or experienced. You just need curiosity and a willingness to try.
The world needs more young people willing to understand before they argue, and MUN is the perfect place to begin.
