World Mental Health Day

ISS News

Last Friday, 10th October, our ISS Taguspark Community came together to recognise World Mental Health Day — a day dedicated to raising awareness and promoting open conversations about emotional wellbeing.

Our school psychologist, Ana Filipa Amorim, shared a thoughtful message with all staff, reminding us that caring for our minds is just as important as caring for our bodies. She encouraged everyone to take a 60-second pause:

Place both feet on the floor and relax your shoulders. Inhale through your nose for four counts, pause for two, and exhale through your mouth for six. Repeat three times and notice one thing you’re grateful for today.

A simple but powerful reminder that small moments of mindfulness can make a big difference.

To mark the day, our students also took part in a creative reflection activity. We asked them: If mental health were a colour, what colour would it be — and why?

Their answers were as diverse and meaningful as they were: from blue for calm, to yellow for positivity, green for balance, and purple for peace of mind. Each response reflected a unique way of understanding what mental health means to them.

Through this initiative, we aimed to foster awareness, empathy, and openness — showing that mental health is a shared journey, and that every colour matters.
