Mafalda Marques

Music Teacher | The Duke of Edinburghs’ Award Coordinator

Mafalda has studied Singing and Musicology, and more recently, she has dedicated herself to the study of the Cognitive Sciences, specialising in the Neuroscience of Music.

She is a strong advocate for music’s impact on our cognitive well-being. Throughout the years, she dedicated herself to promoting social change through music, working on projects such as the Portuguese “El Sistema of Orchestras”, and intervening in hospitals and prisons.

Parallel to her activity as a Musician and Musicologist, she began teaching in Music Conservatoires in 1997. Mafalda started to work in International Schools in September 2015 and joined the ISS project in September 2019.

Fun Facts

Mafalda is an Ocean Conservationist and a proud member of the Shark Education Institute, while also serving as a Global Schools Advocate, and she previously worked as a journalist for the Portuguese News Agency!
