In the PYP Early Years at International Sharing School – Taguspark learning is understood as a dynamic and holistic process that nurtures both the heart and the mind. Emotional development is at the core of this philosophy. Before children can become thinkers, communicators, or inquirers, they must first feel confident, secure, and valued.

Building this confidence from the start sets the foundation for lifelong learning. When children feel secure in their relationships with teachers and peers within their learning community, they are more willing to take risks, ask questions, and explore new ideas.

Learning Through Play and the Learner Profile

Teachers in the Early Years at ISS Taguspark environment model empathy, respect, and open communication, helping children understand that their thoughts and feelings are important. Through daily routines and nurturing interactions, learners develop a sense of belonging. This directly supports the caring and balanced aspects of the IB Learner Profile, as children begin to understand that their emotions and actions affect others.

The Early Years play-based approach places play and inquiry at the heart of learning. Play offers children a natural and safe way to express emotions, experiment with ideas, and build relationships. Through imaginative play, children take on roles, solve problems, and develop empathy, which are key elements of social and emotional growth.

Our teachers at International Sharing School – Taguspark support this process by observing, guiding, and extending play to encourage reflection and self-awareness. As children engage in these experiences, they demonstrate qualities from the IB Learner Profile such as being communicators, risk-takers, and reflective.

They learn to express feelings with words, to listen to others, and to navigate challenges with resilience and confidence. Emotional development is constructed through every experience, interaction, and reflection. By creating environments at International Sharing School – Taguspark that are safe, supportive, and full of meaningful inquiry, we help learners develop confidence in who they are and what they can achieve.

Building Confidence Through Partnerships

In addition, creating a strong sense of community between families and teachers working together forms the strongest support system for our little learners.

Sharing observations, celebrating milestones, and discussing strategies for supporting emotions at home and school all reinforce a consistent message: you are safe, you are valued, and you can do it.

When children feel confident from the start, when they know they are cared for, capable, and connected, they build the foundation for all future learning, both within and beyond the classroom.
