PYP5 STEAM x Design & Technology: Bringing Ideas to Life Through 3D Modelling

ISS News

This week, our PYP5 STEAM students took an exciting step in their STEAM learning journey as they visited the Design & Technology space to begin transforming their project plans into 3D models.

After weeks of developing concepts during their STEAM lessons, students had the opportunity to explore how design, creativity and hands-on technology come together in a practical environment.

Inside the Design Technology workshop, they were introduced to a range of professional tools and materials, including:

  • Hot wire cutters
  • 3D printing pens
  • Cutting mats and craft knives

With guidance and support, our students experimented with these tools to test ideas, refine their models, and bring their initial sketches to life. For many, it was their first experience working with such equipment — a moment that sparked curiosity, confidence and a deeper understanding of the design process.

This collaboration between STEAM and Design & Technology highlights the power of experiential learning at International Sharing School – Taguspark. Students don’t just imagine solutions; they build them, experiment with them, and learn from the process.

A morning filled with creativity, problem-solving and hands-on discovery — and a wonderful example of how learning becomes meaningful when disciplines connect.

A great collaboration, lots of learning — and plenty of fun. 🧡
